The Dough Bros has announced a new charity partnership with Childhood Cancer Ireland, bringing families together over pizza and creating moments of fun and connection during some of the most challenging times in their lives. 

Through the partnership, The Dough Bros will provide at-home pizza kits to families supported by Childhood Cancer Ireland at different stages of their childhood cancer experience, including families going through treatment and those adjusting to life after treatment. 

The pizza kits will give families an opportunity to enjoy a simple activity together at home by making their own pizzas, spending time together and creating a little bit of normality amid hospital stays, appointments and the many challenges that can come with childhood cancer. 

The partnership will also support families reaching the significant milestone of finishing cancer treatment. While the end of treatment is rightly a time for celebration, it can also be a surprisingly difficult transition. After months or years focused on getting through treatment, families can find themselves dealing with fear, uncertainty and the emotional impact of everything they have experienced. Childhood Cancer Ireland provides support as families adjust and begin to navigate what comes next. 

Laura Cullinan, CEO of Childhood Cancer Ireland and the parent of a childhood cancer survivor, said: 

“Childhood cancer pulls the rug out from under the entire family without warning. Suddenly, family life revolves around treatment, long stays in hospital and periods of isolation at home. Parents and siblings spend huge amounts of time apart, we become two separate families – one in hospital with the child who was sick and one at home with siblings.  

That’s why something as simple as making and eating pizza together can mean so much. It’s an opportunity to have fun, reconnect and enjoy an ordinary family moment when life can feel anything but ordinary.”
