Cancer Care West
Children with cancer;Adolescents with cancer;Young adults with cancer (18 - 24 yrs);Parents of children, adolescents and young adults with cancer;Siblings of children, adolescents and young adults with cancer ;Survivors of childhood, adolescent or young adult cancer ;Bereavement support to parents bereaved by childhood, adolescent or young adult cancer;Bereavement support to siblings bereaved by childhood, adolescent or young adult cancer;
We provide support to parents in the form of advice, counselling and support around the management of issues that may arise with CAYA .This can be through phone, online or in person support in Galway. There is no restriction around catchment area or length of time since treatment. Again, the main criteria is that the issue is related to cancer.
We provide counselling and therapeutic play as appropriate to survivors of CAYA. We have no time limits or exclusions based on geographical area. Survivors can attend classes, rehab gym and have complementary therapy. We limit complementary therapy to within 2 years post treatment to all clients as it is a limited service and in demand.
We provide counselling and therapeutic play to siblings of CAYA ,again with no time limitations or geographical area restrictions. Only criteria being that it is a cancer related issue.
We offer counselling support to bereaved families, again any services can be delivered remotely online/telephone or in person in Galway. We have no restrictions on time or geographical area restrictions.
We offer counselling and therapeutic play service to siblings of children/young people who are bereaved. Again this can be online/telephone counselling as appropriate.

Cancer Fund for Children
Any child/young person diagnosed within the last 2/3 years and aged 0-24 or for any CAYA diagnosed prior to this date, but now have a change in circumstance/or now palliative.
Our support is offered for up to 2 years (extended were necessary) and were a child/young person dies as a result of their disease, bereavement support is offered to their family for 3 years.
We offer ongoing informal parental support to all parents across Ireland.
Parents offered opportunities to engage in online groupwork.
We offer parents/families the opportunity to avail of short breaks at Daisy Lodge.
We support parents in navigating to more formalised supports/other charitable support.
We do not offer direct support in this area.
We offer direct informal therapeutic support on a 1:1 basis for all siblings aged 5-24 living in any part of Ireland (typically 6-8 sessions, but this may be accessed multiple times depending on need). This support is flexible, based on children and young peoples unique needs, interests and learning style, but is very much focused on supporting children and young people to better manage and cope with the emotional impact of their siblings cancer.
We offer ongoing informal parental support to all parents across Ireland who have experienced the death of a child.
Parents offered opportunities to engage in an online bereaved group. All-island families.
We offer parents/families the opportunity to avail of short breaks at Daisy Lodge ( limited numbers, but will be in full operation in Daisy Lodge Cong)
We support parents in navigating to more formalised supports/other charitable support.
