Paediatric Rooms in Regional Hospitals

Childhood Cancer Ireland funds the refurbishment of inpatient and treatment rooms in the 16 paediatric wards at regional hospitals, where children living outside Dublin receive care, alongside CHI at Crumlin, as part of the Shared Care programme.
While in hospital, children are treated in isolation rooms and are unable to use the playroom or other ward facilities. We aim to create comfortable spaces by funding equipment including wall-mounted cardiac monitors and thermometers, TVs, DVD players, gaming devices, electric beds, lie-flat day beds for parents and vinyl wall art to brighten up the isolation rooms.
To date, we have completed projects in:
- Mullingar Regional Hospital
- University Hospital Waterford
- University Hospital Kerry, Tralee
- Portiuncula University Hospital, Ballinasloe
- Sligo University Hospital
- Letterkenny University Hospital
- Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda
- Wexford General Hospital
- Limerick University Hospital
- Tipperary University Hospital
- We continue to work on projects in other locations.
